Gina Rodriguez is crushing it with her new ABC sitcom "Not Dead Yet" and is now developing a Netflix series based on a popular podcast, because why not? Deadline reports that the podcast, "Princess of South Beach," has been picked up by the streamer and will be executive produced by Rodriguez through her production banner, I Can & I Will. However, she's not planning to star in it, so don't get too excited.
"Princess of South Beach" follows the story of twin sisters separated at birth and raised in dramatically different ways. One grew up in a convent, and the other was spoiled with luxury. When one of them dies, the other assumes her identity and discovers that her wealthy family isn't as perfect as they appear. The bilingual series pays homage to beloved telenovela tropes and adds modern twists.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez's ABC show "Not Dead Yet" is a supernatural comedy about a woman who starts getting life advice from the undead when she lands a job writing obituaries. Because who better to give life advice than the dead, right? Rodriguez is also known for her roles in "Jane the Virgin," "Someone Great," and "Annihilation."
